TOMORROW vs. CARLMONT

Aragon Dons and families, 

Tomorrow (4/30) is our LAST home meet of the season! We will be honoring our team’s seniors: Eve McNally, Christian Carlson, and Tessa Draper. Swimmers,  please arrive at the pool deck around 1:45 to set up and warm up. The meet will begin at 3:30 but we will start the Senior Day Festivities around 3:15. 

Parents, if you haven’t gotten a chance to volunteer yet, tomorrow will be a great opportunity! We need timers for each lane. I promise, its easy! Please arrive around 3:00 to learn how to time. 

The PAL championship swim meet will take place next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Swimmers, please prepare to miss class Wednesday afternoon and notify your teachers. I am excited to see the progress of all the swimmers, especially those who have remained dedicated throughout the season!

A-Town goes to San Mateo!

Tomorrow (3/25) the Dons will swim at San Mateo High School. Students will be released at 1:25. The bus will leave from Alameda de las Pulgas at 1:45. If you are arranging your own ride, please contact the coaches beforehand. The meet will most likely start early - around 3:15 instead of 3:30.

-During this Spring Break, we are teaching water safety and swim skills to young children from 1-3pm at the YMCA. Make a difference in a week, by teaching life-long skills and the love of swimming! Thanks to Eve, Brianna, Maria V., Emily, and Julia for doing such a fantastic job the first day!

Aragon swims fast!

After a win for both the JV and Varsity Girls' teams at Mills, and after the points were tallied, all four teams won the meet today against Terra Nova! Thank you to all our athletes and parents who brought food and drinks and supported the team, we look forward to seeing you at Aragon for the swim meet.

Swim Team Update 3/8/15

Great first meet against Sequoia! JV Boys and Varsity Girls came away with a win! Some Dons swam in their first swim meet and many achieved personal bests.

In preparation for our meet against Mills this Thursday, the girls' team will have practice on on Monday at the regular time, 3:30. Please make sure you arrange a way for yourself to get to practice. Call your teammates to arrange a carpool. Friday is a minimum day and practice will be held 1:30-3:30pm.

First Swim Meet and Spring Sportsmanship Night 2015

Hello Aragon Aquatics Family! We have our first meet of the season this coming Thursday 3/5 and are thrilled to welcome Sequoia to Aragon at 3:30pm. We are so grateful to the families who have already signed up to help this event (swim) smoothly. The Swim Coaches will have more information at the Mandatory Sportsmanship Night this coming Tuesday, 3/3, at 6:45pm, in the Aragon Gym, with Mr. Sell. *(this is a correction from the earlier stated time of 6pm) 

Swim Meet Essentials:
  • Click HERE for a great resource in having a successful swim meet.
  • What to bring in your swim bag: extra towels, extra sweatpants, snacks, no club suits or caps
  • When we swim at home, we swim in the odd lanes. When we are the visitors, we swim in the even lanes
  • 2015 Rule Changes: “On the finish, backstroke may not be completely submerged under, i.e. some part of the swimmer's body should be on the surface as they finish."
  • This Thursday: 1:45-2:15pm: Pool Set-up, covers, chairs, tables, benches, timing equipment, touch pads. 2:30-3:00pm: Warm-Up3:30pm: Swim Meet Begins  


Great News, we are now accepting parent volunteers at/or before Sportsmanship Night, reporting for duty this Thursday, 3/5; especially those who have experience, or a willingness to learn any of the following desirable positions:

Timers (>6 per meet), Announcer, Scorekeeper, Meet Director, Ticket Runner, Stroke & Turn Judge, Meet Referee, Clerk of Course, Starter, Computer, Computer Assistant, Colorado Timing System, Meet Photographer, Hospitality, Newspaper Communications, Any other way you think you can support the cause!

Swim Competitions begin next Thursday!

Dear Aragon Aquatics, we await another great week at the pool as the team is swimming more yards and gaining endurance and speed; this is in preparation for our first dual meet against Sequoia at home on March 5th, we hope you can join us! In the meantime, please pay for your team suit and/or team shirt (checks made out to Aragon High School, designed by Tessa Draper). Go Dons!

This week: 2/23-2/28
Tuesday morning dry-land at 6am and Thursday afternoon Pilates at 1:45, in the pool by 2:45. Saturdays: pool practice: 9am-11am. Practice at the usual times, please continue to communicate with your coaches if you need to miss.

Next week:  3/2-3/7

Tuesday: Athletic Sportsmanship Night (*Required attendance by parents) at 6PM in the main gym. Thursday: First league swim meet: Sequoia at Aragon, 3:30pm, swimmers on deck by 1:45pm to set-up and warm-up. (First event: JV Girls 200 medley relay).

Girls Swimming: Family Brunch 2015

Great job to everyone that attended the first week of Aragon swim practice! The coaches are excited to see you all improve this season.

Practice this week will follow the usual schedule. The girls will have our first Tuesday morning practice and Saturday practice. Saturday's practice will be followed by Family Brunch 2015!

Girls Saturday practice will begin at 9:00AM and a potluck brunch will be on the pool deck beginning around 10:30. This brunch will be a fun opportunity for teammates and parents to get to know each other. We will also be having a parent meeting where we discuss this season. Can't wait to see everyone, siblings and extended family are welcome!

Swim Announcements: Conditioning, Movie, Suits

Great first week of conditioning! The schedule will be the same this week. See "Practice Schedule."

Tomorrow (Monday, January 26) is the showing of "Touch the Wall" at Century 12 in Downtown San Mateo. The event starts at 4:30. Wear your Aragon gear. See you there!

The first mandatory practice will be next Monday, February 2nd. 

Team Suit: Checks made out to "Aragon High School" will be due by February 5th. Thank you to those who have turned in their order forms!

First Team Bonding Event of the Season: "Touch the Wall" on 1/26

Join us at Century 12 San Mateo's presentation of "Touch the Wall." This swim documentary is sure to get us all pumped up for this coming season. Reserve your tickets here.

2015 Swim Season Opening

Welcome to the 2015 Aragon swim season, the coaches would like to make you aware of the following information and dates:

 Upcoming Dates:
  • Thursday, Jan. 8: Meeting at lunch in Room 158
  • Wednesday, Jan. 14: Team meeting 3:30-4:30 at the pool 
    • (All interested swimmers should attend)
  • Thursday, Jan. 15:  Suit fitting 1:30-2:15 at the pool
  • Tuesday, Jan. 20: Pre-season conditioning 3:30-5:30 in the pool 
    • (Change into your swim-suit in the locker room and bring your goggles, swim cap, water bottle, towel, and shoes to wear home.)
  • Monday, Feb. 2:  1st required practice 3:30-5:30 in the pool 
    • (See above for what to bring.)
